Our next farm tour is tomorrow, Sept 22nd! We hope you’ll join us to learn a bit about small-scale, sustainable agriculture and see how we grow your food. You’ll find us at:
9501 Deer Range Rd, Moseley VA 23120
(No fee. Family friendly. Guided tour. Please, no pets. Directions here.)
You won’t get to see how the sun rises over the salad greens, which warms my heart each day, I promise… But here’s a sneak peak at what you will get to see:
:: a couple thousand baby spinach plants:
:: a few thousand other baby plants:
:: where next week’s delicious salad mix is growing:
:: what this exotic looking plant is
:: the fabulous chickens that lay the golden eggs we all enjoy so much
:: what this crazy looking contraption is and its role in growing your food:
:: rows of our favorite kale
:: and turnips peaking out above the soil:
PLUS: You’ll have one of the last chances to see the wooded part of our parcel that is set to be cleared very soon. [We are making way for more vegetables and flowers, a new (bigger) greenhouse, and a couple pigs. How exciting!] Future tours should look drastically different.
One more thing you won’t get to see…
These heads of lettuce! Because after photographing them this morning, they were harvested to bring to market. (But you will get to see others growing for future markets.)
We do hope you’ll join us – we love seeing you lovely customers outside of the market.
For markets this week we have harvested:
Arugula, Basil, Bell Peppers (purple, green, red, and orange), Green Beans, Green and Red Tomatoes, Jalapeno Peppers, Heads of Lettuce, Microgreens, Okra, Onions, Parsley, Shiitake Mushrooms, Salad Mix …and Eggs, Bouquets of Flowers, and Bread.
Enjoy!
