We are planting (and therefore hopefully harvesting!) twice as much as we did last year, so a larger heated greenhouse was necessary for the trays of baby seedlings that we later transplant into the ground. Dan put this new house up this week and a couple thousand seedlings are already inside (they germinated in our walk-in cooler that doubles as a walk-in warmer when need be).
It will never cease to amaze us that a box full of seeds, easily carried under one arm, will turn into fields of food and flowers this season, hauled to market in many truck loads, and dispersed to hundreds of people’s dinner tables.
Pictures of delicious salad greens will be here soon, and the season will really be under way.
