The rains have been good to us, plants are growing, and the eating this time of year is out of this world.
This week saw more carrot seeding. These carrots will carry us into the winter, when they become deliciously sweet, which is all the more cherished in January. (The seeds are under that tan cover.)
Tomatoes are headed into jars around here. And into peach salsa – what a perfect August combo.

And we can’t get enough of peppers and onions – they are serving as the base of almost every meal around here:
I just love the colors this time of year. We also dry a ton of these peppers in the food dehydrator to toss into soups, stews, and cooked grains all winter long. (If you’re interested in a bulk pepper purchase for the same reason, just let us know.)
