We are a very small farm, so the place fills up rather quickly.
We built this farm – and are continuing to build a bigger farm – for our community, and it feels really good on days when the community aspect is apparent.
Today we are home to our usual family of five, plus two work trade workers, one child of a worker,
one high school mentorship, two refugee cousins in need of a place to spend the night, one homeschool planning meeting, one community planning meeting, way too many cucumber beetles,
an amazing amount of children’s imagination at work, and a ton of general farm love. With no chemicals. (Currently at use on those cucumber beetles is a clay that they purportedly don’t prefer. We’ll see. Those fruits are hard to grow organically, but we are determined.)
We love it. We eat it up. It’s sometimes crazy, but we are enormously grateful to be doing this work. (And this weather sure doesn’t hurt. We’re loving the 10 day forecast.)
