Back to Farm Work – Orders & Mkts for 8/24

We love our farm, but we also love leaving it. Especially when we leave to visit a successful farm that has been in business for quite some time. Potomac Vegetable Farms in Purcellville hosted a nice learning Field Day on Monday, organized by the Virginia Association for Biological Farming (join to show your support for Virginia’s sustainably grown food!)

Farmers gathered, ate, talked, and toured. 106

Dan showed some Tomato Grafting techniques. 116

We marveled at the space and views they enjoy. (Joren, age 4, kept asking where the farmers lived, since there wasn’t a house in the middle of their vegetable fields, as is the case at our farm. Their house is out of sight of the vegetables! This has its ups and downs, I imagine.)

It is truly wonderful to gather with peers, talked about shared successes and challenges, and then return to the little piece of earth where we grow food.
