Farm Share CSA Members – This week’s share consists of:

Onions, Garlic, Eggplant OR Herbs (Basil and Sesame Leaf/Perilla) (your choice), Green Beans, Okra OR Squash (your choice), Peppers (your choice of which), Tomatoes, Lettuce OR more tomatoes.

Recipe Suggestions: Sesame Leaf/Perilla in Soy Sauce, Marinated Sesame Leaves, Fresh Rice Bundles in Sesame. (Other Sesame Leaf Ideas: Put it around – or in – Fresh Spring Rolls. Add it to any wrap or sandwich. Use in place of burger buns. Put BBQ in the leaf and eat it as a mini-wrap. It has a slight anise flavor and is quite lovely. Experiment!)

And you HAVE to try Eggplant this way: Slice, salt, rest; Roast or char on the grill; Brush with this Balsamic/Soy Reduction (ignore the salmon in that recipe); Serve. (Ideally with pan-fried Padrones, Sauteed Onions and Bell Peppers, and Sausage of your choice (meat or veg). Best dinner ever. (Thanks to Dan’s brothers for serving it to us!)
