Spring! (& Orders for 3/22)

Happy first day of Spring! We are busy broadforking, seeding, potting up, watering. Building (still), rearranging, and really settling into the reality of spring.

There’s a lot of “future” around here right now. Future cucumbers:

Future salad:DSC_0052

Future plums: (This is our family plum tree. Last year yielded zero ripe plums. We’re crossing our fingers for this year.)DSC_0044

Future greenhouse:DSC_0048

But there is some immediate gratification: Current salad. And chard!

And a touch of current beauty (as well as a glimpse at beauty past): DSC_0045

If we lived in a warmer clime, this flower would lead to an apricot (Ume). But these poor dears insist on blooming so early that they always get killed off by cold. We planted this tree knowing this, but also knowing the value of having these gorgeous pink flowers around in February and March. They stand their own, not needing  justification by later fruit.
