Thanks & Vegetables…for 11.28.2015

Pardon this set of farm news arriving a day later than our usual Thursday email. We took yesterday off from work and enjoyed family, a true celebration of our harvest, and gratitude for the amazing life we get to lead.

This week’s Farm Share of our CSA, pictured above, was bountiful, diverse, delicious, and beautiful. Sign up for our 2016 Farm Share is now open! We hope you will join us for best-ever vegetables in 2016. Weekly shares run May – November, and everything in our CSA is Certified Naturally Grown by us, here on our one farm that you get to see whenever you’d like to swing by.

Things are slowing down around here, as they should this time of year. The days continue to shorten and the soil continues to cool down. Some plants die. Some plants stay alive but see no more growth. Some plants in our high tunnels grow, but more slowly than during the warmer months of the year. With this slower time, we say a huge THANK YOU and “See you soon!” to those that have helped us make the 2015 season a success by working here. Specifically, we celebrated Rachel and Kyle who worked with us full time this season, as their last day with us was Wednesday. They were fabulous this season, and we are so appreciative of their work.

Meanwhile, we are still harvesting for farmers’ markets and our Market Share CSA for the remainder of this year. (See details below.) And we are making serious investments to continue to improve our farm. Outside today, the site for a new high tunnel is being graded and leveled.

Stay tuned for more exciting upgrades that we are making over the course of the winter. Our goal is more great food, grown for optimum taste and nutrition, using only biological/ecological/ecoganic farming practices. Whoo hoo!

Today’s harvest includes:
Bok Choy, Carrots, Collards, Cabbage (Napa), Escarole, Hearty Greens Mix, Kale, Lettuce, Microgreens, Parsley, Peppers (green), Radishes (red and watermelon), Salad Mix, Turnips…and our Organic Naturally Leavened Bread.

2015 Market Share CSA Members: Reserve your selection (by Friday 5 pm) online to pick up on Saturday, Nov 28 at our farm, Good Health Herbs, or the St. Stephen’s Farmers’ Market
