Brandermill Holiday Market is this Saturday, November 18th. {FARM SHARE & MARKET SHARE CSA pick ups are at the Brandermill Market this Saturday!} We are so excited to be able to see our Brandermill Market friends again after these weeks of not having a market at which to meet up! We’ll be there with our usual spread, plus a number of special craft and gift vendors. (Tis the season. Get a jump start on Small Business Saturday.)
Speaking of Small Business Saturday (or Sunday)…Over the River Maker’s Mart is Sunday, November 26th in Bon Air (Buford Road Shopping Center). This event has been on our must-do list since it’s inception and we are so glad schedules align and we can participate this year. Mostly artisans at this venue, we are an odd duck at this Mart but will have our freshly baked bread and our throwback to summer: Tomato Chutney. {Another title for this delicacy is “Adult Ketchup.” And yes, we will have this at the Brandermill market this weekend as well.} Visit us and our fellow vendors for top-notch, locally made goods.
To round out our Event announcements, mark your calendars to attend the screening of Look and See: A Portrait of Wendell Berry on December 7th, 6:00pm at the Martin Agency Atrium.
Wendell Berry had a huge influence on us in our early twenties, eventually catapulting us into this career in organic agriculture. He is a wise and poetic man and deserves our attention.
It has frozen hard here in the past week, seeing 25 degrees or so. We were able to protect a lot of our crops but certainly lost a lot of vegetables. It was a difficult goodbye, but the time had arrived. It’s an awfully late frost/freeze, so we’re grateful for all of the days of food we were allowed. Now we hunker down to hardier vegetables.
Farm Share Note: Recent weeks shares have been padded a bit heavier in anticipation that our harvests will be lighter in late November. Thus, expect a bit less food in these last weeks’ shares.
Saturday’s & Monday’s Farm Share will most likely include:
Scallions, Salad Mix, Hearty Greens Mix, Radishes, Peppers, Cabbage, Carrots OR Beets.

2017 Market Share CSA Members: Reserve your selection online to pick up Saturday, Nov 18 at our farmstand, at the Brandermill Green Market, or at the Farmers Market @ St. Stephens.
Anything remaining after CSA shares are distributed and our farm stand is shopped (plus the bread we bake Saturday morning)… we’ll bring to the Brandermill Green Market and the Farmer’s Market @ St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in the West End of Richmond.
