It’s a time of interesting contrast around here. Many plants are dead…but they have taken on a golden, stunning color.
There is beauty in this time of rest. There is delight while tapping into the preserved harvest from earlier in the season. (Our major CSA season is now over…can you tell??? We are getting reflective and perhaps even sounding more relaxed these days!)
But we also get the immense privilege of being able to step back into a warmer time:
Most food we’ve picked this week has come out of our unheated greenhouses (high tunnels). It sure is a treat to step into these structures on a cold, sunny day. Because to be enveloped in warmth and surrounded by food is amazing. At least, to us it is. We suppose that’s why we grow food for a living. 😉

We have vegetables and bread to offer you over the next few days. For the next few months, we are baking bread on Thursdays for sale in our self-serve farmstand, and we are also stocking the farmstand on Thursdays with all the vegetables we can harvest. You should still have a good selection of vegetables on Fridays in the farmstand. On Saturdays, we’ll be vending at the Farmer’s Market @ St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Also keep an eye on what we have available via the online farmers’ markets: FallLineFarms.com and Local Roots Food Coop.
This week’s harvest (and baking) includes:
Arugula, Beets, Chinese Cabbage, Carrots, Collards, Chard, Hearty Greens Mix, Kale, Microgreens, Pea Shoots, Radishes, Salad, Spinach, Turnips…and our Organic Hearth Baked Bread (Sunny Greens, Whole Rye, Raisin, Baguettes, & Seed loaves for this weekend)
{Our farmstand is open Thurs & Friday with most of the above items…see here for updated inventory}
2017 Market Share CSA Members: Reserve your selection online to pick up Saturday, Dec 9 at our farmstand, @ Good Health Herbs, or at the Farmers Market @ St. Stephens.
Enjoy ~
Janet, Dan, & the whole Broadfork crew
