Farm & Market Shares for 10/9

Market Share Members: Please remember to use up your balance! Balances expire December 31. We harvest strong through the end of November, and you should really plan to be at $0 by then. If you all wait until December to finish your balance, we won’t have enough vegetables to go around!

Order lots of greens and blanch and freeze them to eat during winter. Or make smoothies or juice or lots of salads and stir fry dinners! Look at all these goodies we have:

Available for Market Share CSA Members to order for delivery on 10/9:

Our Farm Share Bag (consisting of the items in the Farm Share this week, in one easy to order option), Arugula, Asian Greens (Pac Choi, Komatsuna, Asian Spinach), Basil, Chard, Cilantro, Collards, Eggplant, Endive, Escarole, Frisee, Garlic, Hearty Mix, Kale (Toscano), Kohlrabi, Lettuce, Microgreens, Okra, Peppers (Bell, Padrone, Hungarian Wax, Anaheim, & Jalapeno), Radishes (three types), Salad Mix, Turnips (Hakurei) …plus Naturally Leavened, Hearth Baked Bread.

**

Farm Share CSA Members – this week’s share will likely consist of:

Cilantro, Peppers, Chinese Cabbage, Garlic, Broccoli, Frisee, Radishes, Tomatoes, Hearty Mix, Arugula, and Salad Mix

Notes: Frisee should be used like lettuce, as the only green in a salad, or mix it with lettuces. It’s a bit heartier, and some say a little bitter, but we don’t find it bitter.

Recipe Suggestions (also found on our website):

Asian Slaw by Bobby Flay (Use our peppers and Chinese Cabbage! Add cilantro to make it even better. We ate this last night and LOVED it.)
