Likely no one in the Richmond area (or the mid-Atlantic…or the Northeast) needs to hear from us that it is a later spring than usual. But we will type it here just because it is such a significant force for us each day right now.
But the plants remind us that the cycle continues on, regardless of specific timing. Seeds are germinating. Plants are growing. We were able to start planting (a very small amount) of plants outside last week. The extended forecast is for continued lower-than-average temps for the next little while. We will savor (or ask you to remind us to savor!) this memory once July’s heat is in full effect.
Meanwhile, our high tunnels (unheated greenhouses) have salad greens and cooking greens for Market Share CSA members this week. Thank goodness!
We had the good fortune of having the public television show Virginia Farming recently visit us for an interview. You can view online as soon as they post a link (later this week?).
Reminder: Our next Farm Tour is Saturday, May 9th at 2:30. Our Plant Sale is also that afternoon, from 1:00 – 5:00, where you can shop from our full selection of transplants for your garden. Please plan to join us, and spread the word!
