Spring is in the Air! Seeds are in the Soil!…plus CSA & Mkt for 2.24.2018

We’re a month away from actual Spring, but it feels like Spring has arrived! Our greenhouse is filling up with baby plants:

Garlic is growing nicely in the field: (It gets planted in the fall.)

And our family orchard is seriously teasing us with blossoms! This Apricot blooms in February each year. Which, of course, means that it will never be able to fruit in our climate. We knew this when we purchased it. We just wanted gorgeous pink blooms on our farm in February, and this is how to do it!

All of this is how it looks to be surrounded by food (in different stages) in February. We love to share it with you via this newsletter. And we really love to harvest it and share it with you through our CSA and the farmers’ markets.

To get the best of our harvest each week for most of 2018, join our Farm Share CSA! Details and Sign Up are found here. Join us for our weekly Farm Shares of vegetables to get the best selection each week for seven months, May through November. No need to remember to order each week, nor rush to get to the farmers’ market early! We have five convenient pick-up locations around western Chesterfield and the West End of Richmond. Our Farm Share CSA members are the first priority for our weekly harvests and are the most important core of our farm. We would not exist without our Farm Share CSA! Join our CSA today!

We’ll see you Saturday at Farmers Market @ St. Stephens in the West End of Richmond where we will have…

Cress (Upland Cress – tastes like Arugula) / Hearty Greens Mix / Kale / Microgreens / Miner’s Lettuce / Pea Shoots / Salad / Spinach…and our Organic Hearth Baked Bread (Sunny Greens, Whole Rye, Raisin, & Seed loaves for this weekend) and Tomato Chutney.
{Our farmstand is open Thurs & Friday with most of the above items…see here for updated inventory}

Enjoy!
– Janet & Dan, & the whole Broadfork crew
